The less pronounced inconsistencies of the Asus mintors, however, leap out at me and really annoy me. The Dell panel's actually more consistent. The older Dell panel's inconsistencies are much more obvious, but I don't see them when I'm actually using the monitor. The uppermost row of cells is noticeably cooler than the lowest row. The differences are subtle, but they're visible. The HTML file cleverly simulates panel's inconsistencies by tinting the cells, using the central cell as a baseline.

Moving my head and/or the monitor up and down had no effect, so I was fairly certain the problem wasn't color shifting (which shouldn't be an issue with IPS panels anyway).įortunately, I have a Spyder3Pro and Displa圜AL, so I ran a screen uniformity check and found that there is indeed a measurable, gradual decline in color temperature from the top of the screen to the bottom. At the end, Displa圜AL will give you a report, and you can click on 'install profile' to start using the calibrated ICC profile you just created. (Edit: I think I noticed it before calibrating, too.) I liked it well enough apart from the Windows 10 scaling issues (1440p at 25" does't play well with 1680x1050 at 22"), but after I calibrated it with my Spyder3Pro, I began to notice that whites were subtly warmer at the bottom of the panel than at the top. I bought an ASUS PB258Q from Newegg last week when it was on sale. Tl dr: Between the top of the panel and the bottom, my Asus PB258Q's color temperature gradually drops by between 3% and 6%.
